Wanted to get some suggestions on the best OEM stabilizer replacement. I have an 08 f250 psd 4x4 and just want to upgrade the stock unit. I'm running the stock tires and don't plan on going much larger on tires and primarily use the truck for highway use.
I've seen many dual kits and single kits that don't use the stock mounting, so wanted to get some feedback on what others are using and where they've purchased.
I went with the Rough Country stabilizer. It was reasonably priced and mounts in the stock location. It's a much beefier unit and made a world of difference over the worn out OEM stabilizer that was on the truck since new. I changed out the OEM stabilizer at about 56,000 miles and I could move it in and out easily by hand. If Bilstein made an OE replacement for our trucks, I'd have bought that.
I went with the rancho from shockwarehouse as well. Mounts to existing and there was a noticiable difference from the original. I wish bilstein would make one as well, I'd have bought that one.
very high build quality, but it comes charged w/ nitrogen at 200 lbs.
you prob will have to drop that down some (i set mine at 50 and that works perfect).
I replaced mine with a Pro Comp (stock bracket). I'm running stock 265s so I don't need anything too beefy. I spent about 30 bucks and it works great. I off-road so I'll eventually misjudge my clearance and end up banging it again. And when it gets beat up enough, I'll spend another 30 bucks for another one.
Thanks guys...not sure if the 08 has the same mounting as prior years. Mine doesn't sit parallel to the axel. It's tucked up on an angle attaching to the upper steering linkage??? I think this is the reason why i'm not finding many oem replacement ones. any thoughts??
I see two at shock warehouse. A Monroe and the Rancho. Note that while the photo on the Rancho page shows the dual setup, that item is NOT the dual setup. With stock suspension and tires, you probably don't need a dual setup anyway.

Yes, but you don't need one that sits in the same location as the stocker, you can leave it there or throw it out. As far as I know all the dual stabalizers run parallel with the axle and will work well with your truck
I just installed the Icon dual bracket and bilstein 5100s. World of difference and an extremely easy install. I was starting to get a lot of feedback through my steering wheel and the steering wheel never returned to center on it's own. I always had to turn it back to center. With the dual Bilstein setup, I'm getting no feedback through my steering wheel and the steering wheel easily returns to center. I can't believe I waited this long to upgrade. Night and day difference.
I bent my stock unit about 4 years ago when I dropped a wheel in a small irrigation ditch. Took it off and never noticed a difference. Drives like any other truck I've ever had. I have 285/75's.
