From 4X2 to 4X4

I am getting ready to buy a 2006 Ford F250 XLT Crew that is a 4X2 with a manual trans. An I am wanting to know what I will have to do to switch it from a 4X2 to a 4X4 as far as parts an cost? Can somebody help me? I am selling my 2008 Chevy HHR SS with manual trans. an then going ot buy it my HHR only has about 6200 miles on it an the F250 has 80K on it. I am also looking to upgrade somethings on it to Lariat an the 4X4 will be push button on the dash an not in the floor. I am also new to Ford trucks this will be my first truck an my first Ford in over 13 years so I am new to trucks an what all is involved. My last Ford was a 1984 Ford EXP from 1993-1996 an a 1988 Mercury Cougar LS from 1996-1998. Can somebody help me?

it will be easier and cheaper to just buy a 4X4.

Welcome Kalve.
My feelings are you are better off to buy an actual 4X4 rather than converting but you can find out from the pros, post this in the Offroad and 4x4 forum: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum63/
If it`s a diesel you can also post in the 2003 - 2007 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel forum: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum107/
Swing by your local WV chapter and meet the folks there too: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum134/
