I've got the the AE with just the Ford Bundle. I wanted the Pro Bundle, but was a little too much for me. I have all Fords and didn't really need the other software. I let my friends and family have to worry about their own.
The Equus 3130 was one of them I have been looking at.The other was Actron CP9180.This one says it is American engineered...Thanks
The Actron will not work on the Powerstrokes. Several people have tried it.
I haven't heard anything about the Equus. It says that it's J1850PWM compatible, however it also says that it only retrieves "OBD-II compatible" codes (generic and manufacture specific). Every scanner that says it only retrives "OBD-II compatible" codes can't read Powerstrokes. Technically, Powerstrokes are non-OBD-II, which is where most scanners fall short and have trouble pulling codes off our trucks.
For the price, AE with the Ford Bundle isn't much more expensive (assuming you have a laptop). However, if you just want a cheap code reader, get on Ebay and purchase a used programmer (Superchips or something similar). If they are vin locked, you can't load a tune, but you can still pull trouble codes. Usually the vin locked ones are really really cheap. They are kinda hard to find sometimes, but ever now and then you can get lucky.
Jim & Curtis....Thanks for the help and the info. This is why I asked before I bought one.I guess I will wait to see if Jim get's a response from Equus but I maY be heading towards the AE....Will have to have a laptop as well but my wife has been wanting one so it would work out.
I have a Snap-on MT2500 (the brick). It reads PSD codes. You can get them cheaper than I got mine since guys are trading them in on the Modus and solus. My dealer has two coming in this week and prolly in the $600 range. They read engine, ABS, airbag, transmission... Most cheap only read engine. Also can watch all sensors while the engine is running or while driving. Really nice set-up. Counsin used it to diagnose a traction control problem on a Chevy, only way to see what sensor was acting up.
I just talked to Equus on the phone and none of their products will read the codes on our trucks. The guy at tech support was a bit on the rude side IMO.
