352 - Cam - Heads
It took a couple of false starts and one craigs list rip off but I got a
1970~s 360 block, and did the normal machine work, decked, line honed, and, bored it "60 over".
All new bottom end etc, I found a 390 crank with 'narrow shoulder' connecting rods and found some HiPo Fomoco ones which are clearly beefier all around. Stock oil pump. Hyperteutic pistons with valve reliefs and, rings etc...
No oil mods and stayed with OEM style oil pump because it's a 1966 F250 with a NP435 and 4:10 rear end....I'm not going to try and push 65mph pulling a trailer up the Grapevine hill ..nor will I be doing 1/4 miles outside of town at 2am.
Comp Cams with Exhaust lift 0.562 Intake lift 0.565 Exhaust Duration: 274 Intake Duration: 286....new valves, springs, guides, valve push rods etc....
I did not call out for the 'arp' bolts or studs etc...unless the machinist did that on his own...sure he'll let me know...
Comp Adjustable Roller Rockers, Stock Valve Covers, Edelbrock Performer RPM, Holley 650, DUI DuraSpark Distributor, Heavy Duty 3/8 flange Hedman headers.
Aluminum "be cool" radiator
The engine compression is roughly 9.5:1 and we think it will produce 300 to 350 HP on pump gas...but that is just a guess...but well over the 180HP from the factory.
New Heavy Duty Clutch etc.
We removed the front clip and while engine is out we installed new kingpins, radius arm bushings >>>using the 4x4 flavor because the 4x2 version has softer rubber, we installed new coil springs, serviced the brakes....
So, I went ahead and put power brakes and steering...which totally busts out my "all original" credos but with the aluminum intake, holley carb, headers etc...let 'er roll.
On the outside, I rounded up some stock split rims, painted them black and the rings silver/argent, and found the "correct" stainless steel dog dish hub caps and we are riding on 7.50x16 BIAS ply tires...
On the outside, the truck is a bone stock survivor with a nice patina on a 25 year old repaint....under the hood....not so much.
If all goes well and the machinist holds together (he contracted cancer over this period) the work will be done within a month and I'll probably do a new thread just to show the handiworks... and so on..
Thank you all for the advice.
