My wife and I placed an order for a brand new 2009 F-250 on January 30. On March 13, I saw the truck come off the transport, fresh from the Kentucky Plant. We custom ordered because we wanted a truck with a manual transmission and manual 4wd operation. No truck on a lot in Texas had those 2 key features. So we ordered. Here's how it spec's out.
XLT Crew Cab Short Bed
Sterling Grey
5.4L V8
6 Speed Manual
4.10LS Axle Ratio
4x4 Off Road Package
18" Bright Machined Cast Aluminum Wheels
275/70/R18 Tires
Cab Lights / Bodyside Moldings / Upfitter Switches
So with all that said, on to the pics.
Here's the Order Sheet. (Clicky for bigger pics)
VERY nice setup! Gorgeous color combo and the truck just looks great. Just the right stance also. And, it looks like the MRS. is quite happy with it as well. Congrats and enjoy the truck!
Awesome truck! Always happy to see another CC with the 5.4L
That's exactly how I would've ordered one (except maybe mine would be red!) with the manual trans and 4x4. I was really wanting that combo in mine but couldn't be too picky shopping for used trucks. Over the 4 or so months I shopped, I found exactly zero of them with the manual trans and 4x4 in a CC. Oh well... so far so good with the auto stuff.
Thanks!
The my wife was the one who did a lot of sorting through the options. She's the one who needs the pat on the back! The six speed is a nice transmission and the 5.4 feels plenty strong with the 4.10 axle. I don't mind the clutch at all.
I'm hoping this set up will prove to be very reliable over the years.
I don't think you'll have anything to worry about in the reliability department. By the way, you're lucky. If it doesn't shift itself, my wife won't even think about trying to drive it. That gives me an idea for my next truck though...
Very nice, similar to what I ordered. Please measure your clutch pedal free play. Does it move about an inch before you feel any resistance? My ZF6 is very slow to shift due to the sleepy rev drop. How is your FI programming? I find moving over to the Reverse/Low gate very finicky. It should be just the extra spring pressure to get there but mine won't move straight across.
Very nice looking truck. I have a 08 with the 5.4 crewcab 4X4 but it's an auto. The 5.4 has plenty of power the only time I need to give it extra gas is on hills but in the dfw area there isn't too many of those. Congrats on the truck.

I have absolutely no complaints about my transmission or clutch.
The Reverse/Low gate is stiff, but I don't find it finicky. The RPMs drop as soon as I push in the clutch... don't know if that addresses your FI question. I need to put some more miles on this thing!
