Hey guys, I have a 2000 f150, 4.6l v-8, 2wd ext. cab, and it shakes between 1000 and 1500 rpms. Already replaced fuel filter , and it makes no strange noises. Also, only shakes when engine is under load. Help, please!
Vibrations can be a bugger to track down,You could have an imbalance issue in the engine, tranny,or drive shaft system. If it vibrates when in park, and youre holding the throttle at the 1000-1500 rpm range, and the vibration persists,it pretty much points to engine. If it does it only while driving,it could be anything from Transmission, U joints etc......
My 97 Has a Check Engine Light, and ive seen "service engine soon" lights on other vehicles, but am not sure what parameters the SES light follows.
Since you have pretty much figured out its engine,my first thought would be a good fuel injector cleaning. If the engine has a ton of miles on it a professional cleaning will likely make a world of difference.Otherwise i would take a look at the harmonic balancer to be sure its not coming apart....
These are just suggestions, but maybe a place to start...BTW...Welcome to the Forum!
Im sure there will be additional suggestions from the guys...this place rocks!
I had the same problem back in january, it shook real bad (especially in the range you speak of) and i had the check engine light on, or service engine soon light forgot which one it was but same parameters you're having.
Turned out to be my COPS. Could go about checking those, I don't know how easy it is to check or how much for harmonic balancer but I'd check the COPS while i'm down yonder.
I'm getting the codes ran tomorrow, but noticed tonight, motor is not stalling, rpm's stay smooth and consistent, just shakes the truck. I don't know, could be harmonic balancer?
sounds like you have a miss. mine just started that last night hauling a big trailer. did fine on the way down, then started as i started pulling a hill. youll probably have a 0301-0308 which indicates a miss in that cylinder. but it could also be something else like a dfpe sensor or something. havent had time to figure mine out yet, but he is probably right about the coil packs or maybe just plugs. some of the coil packs have replaceable boots, i dont know if yours do or not. may want to inspect them and see if anything is visibaly burned or bubbling up on the packs or if the boots are burned looking on the sides. these motors are bad about the boots arcing out the sides.
