I am sure the NHTSB won't like them for crash standards.

they look dangerous for kids. also, it is going to suck when the door motor quits. then you wont be able to open or close the door. I don't really think its that cool. I would never pay to get something like that installed.

pretty cool for a custom car that isnt going to be driven alot. like previously said the motor would go out and you would be stuck in there.

This concept was actually commissioned by Ford on a Mark VIII back in 1993. It has been shown in the Mark VIII circles for years. From those that have seen the car up close, they say it was pretty cool considering how large the doors are on those cars. It would be cool on a large coupe like that but not for most vehicles.

It was sold on eBay just a few months ago -- cool concept, but you had better not be parked on a speed bump - crunch...

A new twist on an old subject.

1954 Kaiser Darrin's had doors that slid forward into the front fenders.

These doors were manually operated, so there were no electrical parts to worry about.

Early fiberglass cars (*) were painted lighter colors, because dark colors would show up every wave and flaw in the body.

* Corvette, Kaiser Darrin, Woodill Wildfire, Glasspar.

Glasspar, known chiefly for their boats, offered a fiberglass "sports car" body kit beginning in 1950.

Woody Woodill, a ****** Distributor and dealer, mounted these Glasspar bodies on ****** passenger car chassis.

The Wildfire was than offered to all the ****** dealers, making this the first "production" fiberglass car.
