VGT Solinoid replacement is it common
So if I order a VGT solinoid from Ford how hard is it to replace ?
I read it has to be clean and becarefull with it. I assume you remove the one bolt holding it and unplug and pull the old one out ?
I really don't think its any other problem I changed the fuel filters today the oil was changed 2 weeks ago.
Like I said the turbo is a reman unit I ordered it and was going to install it but I got Ford to do it. The VGT is 6 years old so it is what I'am assumming is gone its making the vanes not move properly I'am getting a overboost situation and today I was not getting any boost.
I had troubles revving the engine up past 2500 I unplugged the EGR valve christ she spun up to 3500 rpm. I have a 6spd manual so I can hold it in gear.
The truck has been good so far I have had the truck for 2 years I had the truck reflashed it had a ICP replaced and the rebuilt turbo installed. The truck has 92,000kms on it (57,168 miles) so the engine has some life left.
You can try cleaning the VGT (carb cleaner only) - might save you some bucks. Awhile ago, the VGT solenoid ran $250 IIRC.
Also -
Why not pull and clean the EGR valve - or replace it since it is giving you trouble (or delete it permanently)?
I don't want to try cleaning it because if it doesn't work I have to wait 2-3 days for Ford to get one.
I have no codes etc and the turbo is a year old so I have a feeling VGT sensor isn't working.
