A4LD Question
When I bought the truck the last owner said it had no forward gears just reverse...well if you shift it to 1,2, or 3rd it will go but if you shift it to overdrive it just makes a slight sound and will not move.
I did some searching on this matter and from what I have found the problem could be in the valve body.
One other thing, I was digging around under the truck and found a cable that runs from where the speedo cable plugs into the trans at towards the front of the truck, it has a plug on the end of it and was tucked into a cross member, but I could not find where it would plug into, if anyone knows if and where it plugs into please let me know.
Thank you,
Louis
In D selection, in first gear the overdrive clutches and the overdrive one way clutch, the forward drum and the low one way clutch are engaged.
The problem with your transmission is the overdrive one way clutch is broken. It is a common failure for this transmission.
Why it moves in D is that the overdrive clutches come on and drive the hub that the overdrive one way clutch was suppose to.
Thanks,
Louis
