Ok, so I've been shopping for tires for a while. Got a couple of questions.
I'd been planning on getting BFG A/T's, but actually saw the General Grabber today and has anybody here ever actually used the Grabbers and are they worth the money? Decent tire life? They were a good 50 bucks each cheaper than the BFG's.
Second - Firestone has a special going on for buy 3 get one free and the Destination M/T is included. The price there would be comparable with the BFG's. Do they last very well?
I guess the point is how to both the General Grabbers and Firestone M/T compare to the BFG A/T? I need something that gets better traction than the Firestone A/T's that I've been running for the last 37k?
I have not used the general or firestone tires but I have had the BFG at's on my last three trucks and love them! good wear and traction. I did sway away from the BFG's on my f150 because of the cost and went to the Nitto At's but really didn't like them as much as the BFG's. but now the F150 has the BFG's back on. the Nittos didn't last very long...
that's the big thing. i need tires but the BFG's are expensive. i've been justifying the extra cost with the kudos i've been reading here about folks getting so many miles out of them.
I too, have BFG ATs and love them. They are good on snow and sand, whereas a mud (M/T?) wouldn't be. Road noise is minimal, mudders would be louder.
I probably have 40k on mine and they look darn near new, lots of meat left on 'em.
Yeah. You pay a little more but they last longer and ride well.
spence did you check roadway tire out of FL they seem to have great $$ on des. m/t's
a whole lot less than firestone dealer list $$
crap, no kidding. about the same still as the buy 3 get 1 deal. still over 200 a tire. sears has the grabbers for around 150, though. would just get the freaking BFGs if cash wasn't so tight right now.
My wife had the grabbers on her expedition and they are o.k., but they are made with soft rubber and wear quicker than the b.f.'s, I had a set of b.f.'s on one of my trucks that lasted for 40,000 miles, and they stay looking good when they get old, just spend the money and get the b.f.'s and you won't have to worry about it.
