I also vote for Duralast. I had one go bad after 4 years and got a prorated refund of over $50 having only paid $80 something. Ended up a new one only cost me $30 something because they sell you a new one at the same prioce you paid for the one that went bad. They are an 8 year battery with slightly higher rating than Motorcraft. AutoZone is also found nation-wide.
I do have a question though, I bought it for my F150, but swapped it into my newly acquired 350 since I'm selling the 150. Is it OK having one brand new batery and one 3 years old in the PSD?
Napa Premium Gold. It never hurts to check the water level in the batteries before you replace them if its low, top them off and give them a charge before you just write them off as no good
Just a piece of useless knowledge here. A co-worker of mine informed me that one company (Johnson Controls) manufactures the majority of batteries on the market. They just brand name them for whomever they manufacture them for. I haven't researched it further than that, but I did find that interesting.
I had Motorcraft's 750ca and 750cca batteries and they wore out every two years since the fall of 2001. I got sick of Ford always having a problem with the warranty on my batteries, so I went with Autozone Duralast Gold's: 3yrs no questions asked warranty, 5yr prorated, 1000ca, 850cca and a better running truck. Nuff said.

That is true... There are only a few battery MFG's. New Castle makes there own, The NAPA is a better brand also. Duralast wont make it 3 rounds at the drags, they are a very cheap product, but they always replace/ warranty them with out a problem as long as you are in the computer or have your reciept. NAPA does it for me anyways. so it doesnt matter.
I have used Interstate batteries in all my plow trucks and they are great There supposed to be made by johnson controls. they make the more expensive Diehards! I have had bad luck with optimas once, but now I have been having great luck. Don't buy cheap there is a difference!
Well I bought two Interstates today for $124.00 each plus tax. Put them in and engine spun real nice and started immediately. They have a 30 month no questions asked replacement guarantee and total of 84 months prorated replacement. I will monitor this closely and see how we do. I am also going to have the alternator and voltage regulator checked to see if ithey are putting out correct voltage.
By the way, Wanna sell your old mirrors? Are they heated and in good shape?
The drivers side mirror has some scratches on it from a previous encounter with something white but not bad and will probably compound out real easy. The passenger side is good for parts as the amber light is broken out and turn signal does not work. Mirror still adjusts automatically. If you can get a new amber lens and circuit board it may be worth repairing it.
But - both mirrors have the wiring harness plug cut off as I used both plugs on my 08 mirrors but you could hard wire to existing mirror harness in the door.
I was thinking of taking pictures of both mirrors and put them on Ebay but let me know what you might give for them. I can post pictures before an offer is made.
Shucks, if I had known about the battery comparison link I could have saved myself $120 at Wally World over the purchase of my Interstates yesterday. Timing is everything
Almost every battery you can buy is made by 1 of 3 manufacturers. Don't overspend for the brand name. Buy from a place you like to do business with and has a good warranty.
Make sure you buy a cranking battery. Do not buy a marine, deep cycle, or other type of battery like some people do. The alternator in your truck cannot meet the charging voltage requirements for those other batteries and they will not last.
Best thing you can do for battery life is make sure it is well charged all the time, well ventilated and cooled, and has enough water (if it is a maintenance style). Low state of charge and high temp kills batteries. Battery terminal posts have to be clean for the battery to be properly charged. My batteries are 10 years old and working fine. I have another car with 11 year old batteries that are still fine. The worst I've ever done is 7 years.
