2003 F250 with 6.0 4WD. 29,000 miles on it. For about 20,000 miles of that it had a really huge lift on it (19") with 44" tires. Now it is back down to a 11" lift with 39" tires. 3.73 Gears and never re-geared at all.
Driving yesterday about 35 MPH, tried to accelerate to go around a car in front of me and it started to take off for about 1/2 second then RPM just shot up and it felt like the transmission slipped. No loud noise, no mechanical binding sound, everything sounded fine. Coasted and came to a stop. Checked everything. Fluid levels are all normal, Transmission Temp is normal, No leaking transmission, rear end not leaking. Truck will "try" to move the tinest little bit when I put it in gear. Put in 4WD just to check and same thing. Towed it home and have not touched it yet today.
Thanks for taking the time to read and any help from all of that knowledge out there is appreciated.
Not sure what to tell you, there is a pressure tap port on the drivers side of the transmission, at idle and in neutral or park you should have 50 psi of pressure.
Mine did the same thing. I didn't have any forward gears, but had reverse. Shut the truck down and then I didn't have reverse and had 1st and 2nd only. You may be looking at a rebuild (approx. $3600) unless it's under warranty, however, with the amount of lift and the weight of the tires, if someone does a little investigating, I'd be hard pressed to be convinced they'd warranty it. Good luck with getting her on the road again!
