I've been wanting to replace my Lincoln weldpak 100 for a good while. Liked being able to plug it in anywhere, but needed a 220v unit at times. Bit the bullet and ordered the new Millermatic 211. Runs on 110v equal to a 140 amp unit, but comes with an adapter pug to use 220v and takes it to a 210 amp unit. Anyone happen to have any experience, or opinions with it? Seems like the best of both worlds. On 220 it will weld up to 3/8" single pass.
Congrats on the new welder. I would like to hear how you like it after a couple months use. Will soon be looking to upgrade and would appreciate your thoughts on the Miller 211.
Been welding with it all week and I'm impressed. The auto-set feature seems to work great. I have a lot better, cleaner welds with more penetration and less blow thru. This is probably due to me not having old welder set correctly. With the $75 rebate and carefull shopping, I have less than $900 in it. Worth every penney.
Only thing I had to do was make a patch cord for my generator. Gen. had dryer style outlet for 220v. Bought a 4ft. dryer cord and mounted welder outlet to other end. So I'm about as portable as I can get.
You have a generator at home that will run your welder with 230V? Very cool.
I bought the Millermatic 180 last summer. It gets a lot of use .... me, kids, neighbors .... Miller makes good stuff. I didn't realize the MM 211 was so closely priced to the 180, maybe I would just bought that one for the few extra welding amps. Though, the little 180 has done everything I asked of it.
The 211 wasn't available till about Nov. Dec. I was pleased enough that I ordered a Miller Spectum 125 Plasma cutter, will arrive tomorrow. Hope I am as pleased with it. I've been saving my penny's for these upgrades for a while now. Now I need to find a buyer for my Lincoln.
Plasma cutters, I now rate them up there with the invention of the weedeater. I had no idea they would make as clean of a cut as they do. When I think of all the airsaw and sawsall blades, cutoff wheels I have gone thru, not to mention the time saving factor. It is now my favorite tool of all time.
You will be very happy with the Miller. My dad uses one that replaced his Lincoln off of his F550 service truck. He likes it a lot better, plus it came with all sorts of accessories and better power for the same price as a lesser equivalent Lincoln. I used to be sold on Lincoln but the Millers are much much better.
When I bought my MM 180 last year, I actually first purchased the Lincoln equivalent because Lincoln was running a sale at its dealers. I got it home, noticed that it was made in Mexico, packed it up and exchanged it for the Miller machine.
We have a lot of fabrication stuff since we're a professional construction outfit.
Currently we have a Miller Thunderbolt and a Millermatic 221. I think it's a 221. I don't remember exactly what it is at the moment, but it's a decent sized Miller MIG.
Our local welding supply shop carries Miller, Lincoln-Electric, and HyperTherm.
When we had to get a new stick welder dad went in there with the intention of buying a Lincoln. After speaking with the guy who was working there dad left with a smokin deal on a Miller stick welder. The Lincoln was more expensive so he definitely wasn't trying to sell him the higher priced welder.
We were very happy with that welder. That specific one was stolen so we went and bought a new one identical to it.
A while after that we got the Millermatic MIG and now we're looking at a plasma cutter.
The guy who works there says that the HyperTherm plasma cutters are superior to the Miller plasma cutters and that is why they carry them instead of the Miller plasma cutters.
We're looking at the HyperTherm 1250. It is supposed to be able to run through 7/8" steel all day and go up to 1.5" if it has to. Pretty impressive IMO.
The only issue is that the list price is 3700 bucks! The guy says he'll let it out the door for 3,000 though so that's a little better at least.
Sorry for the long-winded post.
Long story short: Yaaaay Miller! Except for plasma cutters apparently.
I think a millermatic 211 will be in my garage shortly. I want to upgrade to a mig and would like one for less than a grand. This one seems to fit the bill.
Can a spool gun be attached to it to weld aluminum?
