hey guys I accidentally filled up my tank with E85. what should I do? Is it okay to drive it like that. I can't notice any difference in the engine performance.
This one tank won't kill you. But ethanol is corrosive and you're truck is not designed to burn it. You can corrode lines, injectors and more with it. Run it through quickly, and get some good octane fuel with some carb/injector additive from the store pronto once you run it through. And do not let that tank of gas sit in there for 3 weeks. You need normal fuel in there as soon as possible.
okay not a problem I drive the truck 50 miles every day to work, so it should go quick.
Good deal. Just remember don't add the fuel additives to ethanol. Ethanol, plus the alchohol in the additives, is not healthy. Run your tank near empty as you can (without stranding yourself), then get a FULL tank of 89ish gas (no need to do 91, but I wouldn't do just 87), and put in the appropriate amount of additive.
there is a gas station close by that has 89 with 10% ethanol, is that okay. it is also cheaper than 87. I don't know why, but I don't trust them.
You can, your engine is designed for that. By law gasoline may contain up to 10% ethanol. Just remember the more ethanol you have, the quicker you'll burn it, and the more deposits and corrosion that will form in your engine. But it's impossible these days to get ethanol deprived gasoline, kind of like filler in a hamburger.
Not trying to raise a ruckus, but here is an interesting article on E-85 and converting your car. The source is the commerce department so I'm sure there's some special interest involved with the facts.

It's true E85 is not corrosive. It's the water it attracts that can rust your fuel system from the inside out.
That and I'm pretty sure it'll eat though any of your rubber fuel lines as well. What I want to know is how do you acciedently fill your truck with E85, did you not notice half way through or something?
