V10 idle problem (help)

V10 idle problem (help)

I have a 2000 Excursion V10 and at startup engine goes to 1800 rpm and idles between 800-1400 rpms in gear is usually around 1200. kinda hard to hold still with brakes at 1200. two nights ago idle went to 2000 and stayed tapped the gas and went to 3000 and stayed shut engine off, started up resumed 3000. shut off let sit an hour was back at 900. i cleaned inside throttle body and problems still resumed. also noticing big idle differeces when changing heat controls form vent to defrost but with controls off problem still occurs any help or ideals thanks <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

Sounds like a sticking idle air control valve.

thats where i'd begin my search...

idle air control valves are common, so thats probably your problem. but also check for the obvious like a vaccum leak or a sticking throttle cable.

thanks for all the help everyone changed air idle control valve and was the problem thanks again
