Has any of you installed an oil temperature gauge on your v-10? I need to know where the plug is and what it looks like, that I am supposed to remove to install the sensor. I bought the gauges from Banks. They came with instructions, but they aren't really clear. I've tried the hole I think it is, but the sensor won't start threading. It's llike it's hitting something (depth wise) just before it threads. The instructions say "Locate the 1/8" NPT plug above the rear exhaust port on the left side cylinder head. Remove the plug and replace with the sending unit." Thanks.
Yea, I kinda wonder about the depth of that hole. You could try one of these:
That is, if the sensor fits through the hole in the extender.
At worst, call Banks and see what they say.
On another note, I recently saw an oil filter adapter that allows you to put sensors in the oil flow right near the oil filter. It's just a block that threads onto the oil filter adapter that the oil filter then threads onto. In the block are 1/8" ports to allow pressure and temp sensors to be installed right there.
It was in the SD forum, but here's another one I found:
Thank you. Banks told me basically the same thing. They are sending me the extender today, should be here by Wednesday. If that doesn't work I will deffinatley go with your other option. Thank you very much for your help.
