Hello
I have a 2001 F250 Superduty 2wd longbed extended cab. I am wanting to pick up some concrete and would need 20 80 pound bags thats about 1600 pounds. I am wondering if I can do it all in one shot without breaking my truck. I have not had this truck long and am used to a F150. I cant find my manual so any input would be greatly appreciated. I do have a trailer I can use but would need to go 25 miles to get it.
Thanks Luke
with that light of a load you wont even know its in the bed. ive got a 2000 f250 and ive hauled over 4k lbs of stone in the bed with no problems at all. keep in mind also that for your year model truck the f250 and the f350 are the exact same truck. except for the 350 badge and the 9900 gvwr sticker. but structurally they are pretty much identical. so anything a 350 can safely handle, your 250 can as well. and like john said, be sure to pump your tires up before hand.
The most I have hauled in a F250 was a John Deere 6081 industrial diesel power plant complete from radiator to the flywheel housing on it's skid mount. It was in a 1993 4x4 with a small block and 5 speed. Payload was 5,300 pounds. It drove well, but was a little top heavy, so I kept the speed down on the corners. It also did not want to stop very well, so I had to drive pretty defensively. This was mostly on 2-lane highways with some city driving all in light traffic. I would be leery of doing that on a congested freeway where you can't keep a safe following distance.
I keep 6k of sand in the back all winter...I have timbrens which makes all the difference in the world..keeps the rear from going down more that 1.5 inches..Drive it like you stole it. LOL
Thanks guys I just wanted to make sure. I know one thing I towed my Fairlane to a show for the first time with it last Aug and I didnt even know it was back there. I had to look a few times. I sure like it and am glad I went to it from my F150 my only regret is I didnt do it sooner.
Thanks Again
