pting!!!

anyone hear a loud ping noise coming from engine just after shutting down after a drive? it usually does it a couple times, but today did it like 5-6 times over a 10 minute period while i was fueling up. i assume it is something cooling down, but i can't figure out where it is coming from. hoping it is not a problem.

i do have the 6637 and 3.5" DP, but no other power mods. no pyro gauge... think i need one?

any ideas what this noise may be or if i should bother worrying about it?

thanks,
eric

Yeah probably exhaust

And with your mods a pyro is not necessary but is always a good idea. Especially if you plan on more mods or tow alot.

If it was the turbo, it would make a humming sound as it wound down, the way you described it sounds like its a sharper sound, like a hammer hitting a piece of metal?
Give us a better description!

Sounds like he is hearing exhaust cool down of the metal.

I figured all trucks do it.
The turbo shouldn't make and ping sounds at all. Well, unless its bad. but it still shouldn't be a ping. Would be a Rattle?

i should clarify- the noise happens about a minute after i turn the truck off so the turbo and everything is still. and it is like a small hammer hitting metal. pting!

this ring a bell for anyone?

Yup, all metals will ping to some degree as they cool. The faster the cooling, the more the pinging.
