I have a 1979 F-150 with a .60 over 400M with alot of goodies in it. It has the C6 tranny in it and it has always worked great. I drove it for a year before I blew the old engine and never had a problem shifting. When I put the new engine in I installed a 2500rpm midwest stall converter. When I got it running I filled the tranny with fluid and backed it out of my garage. I spun it around the block and everything seemed to work fine. I parked it and it sat for about two weeks. I went to pull it into my garage today and I have no gears at all. There is no pull on the engine at all when its put into gear. Checked the fluid and that is fine. Checked the shift linkage at the tranny and I can feel it ratchet threw P R N D 2 1. I checked the bolts on the converter and they are all tight. It seems like it isn't pumping any fluid. Anyone have any ideas why it doesnt work? Im hoping it is something dumb and easy to fix but I kind of doubt it. Any advice would be great, thanks.
yeah you wouldn't be able to bolt the tranny back up right if your torque converter was not in correct.. i am sure your foward clutch has to do with all of those gears.
If its a 4wd, did your transfer case somehow get shifted into neutral??? Does your driveshaft turn, but the rear wheels dont?? Make sure its the trans and not a t-case or rear diff problem....

When I was in TTCJ Auto mechanics program, I had a friend who installed a 429 in his 78 bronco. He also installed a new tq converter , but it didnt seat well. He drove it three days, then it locked up. It fried his pump and also welded to his pump shaft. I cut that trans out with a torch, because it yu couldnt turn the motor when it welded the itself to the pump. I dont remeber what all it did, but it can be installed without being completely seated. I'd pull it and check, just to make sure.
I check the vacuum and T-case those are all fine. I pulled the valve body down and tore it apart. All the valves were sticky. Long story short cleaned it up and the tranny still wont do anything. Pulling it out tomorrow and bringing it in to get rebuilt. Thanks for all the advice though. Much appreciated
