New Member???

Well i just bought a 99 single cab 2 wheel drive with 158900 miles on it. It had been sitting here at my job for about 3 month and it had a little trouble starting up. I thne took it for a drive and it kind of studdered for a bit and when it wormed up it ran fine. What should i look for or what should i do to make sure that everything is right?

welcome to FTE Baby
if i were you get a bottle of Diesel Kleen put the double dose of it and fill up the tank with fresh fuel. drain your fuel bowl , put fresh fuel filter in it and you should be good to go.
the drain is in the back of the fuel bowl, has yellow handle , when you twist it will drain your fuel bowl. and before you put the filter cap back on fill it you with DK...

hope this helps.

....and make sure the oil is fresh, and FULL. LOL....

EDIT: Reason is that the injectors are fired with high pressure oil. Old (or low) oil can cause these trucks to run crappy. Sorry if you know that already -- some new folks don't...

I agree with all above, If problem remains I would look into the injectors possibly being too dirty. Welcome as well!

Well guys thanks for makeing me feel welcome. By the way i am a male. Also the other bad thing is that i dont know anything about diesels. I bought the truck to tow my 03 Mustang Cobra and the price was right. I paid $1500 for it. Is there any sections here that have a how 2 with pics or anything. Again thanks for all the help.

That is what we do. Ask what you want to know and we will do our best to help you. If you have a question on a part of the engine, ask, if you what to know something about maintenance, ask.

Click on the link in my signature and read away. There is tons of info. It will keep you busy. If the truck is running and there are no major issues, you are going to have gotten a GREAT deal on that truck.
