Replacement body panels

I need to replace the panels above the rear fenders on my 76 F-100. Typical rust and such. JC Whitney and LMC truck both have the panels for 24.95 each. Has anybody had any experience with either companies' panels?

Thanks.

We've got the panel you're looking for in our online store for $20.00. This is thick, 19 gauge steel. You'll find over 250 steel panels added to the store in the last three days, with better prices.... Shameless plug? Yes, but we have to pay the bills!

i purchased panels for my aerostar through j.c. whitney. they are slightly on the thin side, but that allows you to work them a little. also the year to fit was from 88 to 96 so they were not exact. only noticed this when fitting new panel over top of older one. not bad for the price, but i guess it depends on your intended outcome and body work talent. mine are limited

Go with the thicker ones. I called about these parts and found they were thinner than stock and imported steel which made me think it was lesser quality.

Thinner steel tends to warp when welded and may 'oil can' afterwards if not stressed properly. Oil can means that it can pop in and pop out with a bit of pressure and this usually happens to a larger panel of thin metal.

When welding something this thin, it's important to control the heat by spot welding every few inches then going back and filling the inbetween spots with another spot then going back for a final fill.

Hey Ken...I don't mind the plug...as a matter of fact...I would prefer to buy from you....

My question is....I don't see any full rear quarters for 78-79 Broncos in your store yet...are they going to be added???....and...have you seen any repair panels...for this same truck...that are FULL length...rear quarters....that are from the body moulding down???(I hope that makes sense).....

and...just a side note for anyone that hasn't bought anything from Kens on line store....Ken is great to deal with....he is straight forward and honest about his products....(I ordered the 79 truck manuals on CD and they were great!!)....So...support Ken and this site by buying what you can from him...You won't regret it.

Greg Hanson
ps...how was that for a shameless plug.

Don't have them yet. Right now I'm working on two more sources for sheet metal (I have two now) and I'll add everything I can.

I'll keep you updated.... :-)
