About the only safe way to lift you truck is with a kit. If you just put longer coil spings in the front it will throw everything out of whack. Check out some of the off road sights for brands. Get the kits come with shocks cause you will need longer shocks and the pitman arm drop. How high are you wanting to go and what size tires?
Well,
I've got a brand new set of 37's.
So, I'm thinkin, somewhere like 8 inches total....I was told that would be enough for me to fit those tires.....what do you think?
Do a shackle flip in the rear, put the front hanger in the back (flipped) and use a chevy hanger to replace the front. I know there are pictures on here that other people have done. Im not sure how wide your rear springs are either but it worked perfectly for my 1976 f250 and only cost me $20 for the chevy hangers and then some extra for hardware. Im guessing i got close to 8 inches out of it if not more.
Gosh, this is gonna sound...well...let's just say I'm new to building all of this on my own. I've read about these flips and what not....can you explain it a little bit better or maybe direct me to maybe some pics or an article explaining it??
I'm pretty new to it too and did get alot of help on here. Ill try to take some pics tomorrow that should hopefully clear it up and make it look more simple, it really is easy to do.
As far as the front goes, you will need to get longer coils via a lift kit and either radius arm drop brackets or new C bushings with a different degree to them (this is what I did) or both. With an 8" lift, you will most likely need the drop brackets and for sure a drop pitman arm for the steering. I would also recommend and adjustable track arm as well.
Body lifts are cheap and pretty easy to install. I have a 4inch suspension and 3 inch body lift and 37x13.50 Dick Cepek FC2s. I am pretty sure I could fit 38s w/o any more lift
