I'm still new to the forum and to those and have replied to my questions I am greatful. Now it is time to introduce myself and the Beast as my friends have come to call it.
My name is R.G. and I live in Rome,Ga. My first vehicle was an 86 F-150 with a 302, known as the Confederate. She was totaled by a woman reading a paper and talking on the cell phone. My next truck was a 85 F-150 4x4 with a 4 inch lift and 35's. Great off road truck and was lost in a roll over. Been racing Honda's for a couple of years and now it time to return to my true love.
I bought a 74 F-250 Highboy with a 460 cammed, DOVE heads port and polished. 4 speed tranny and NP 205 divorced. The truck was lifted has the newer Dana 60 front and Ford sterling 10.5 Full float rear. The front end was custom fab to fit the axle. It rolles on 39.5 x 18 boggers 16.5 rims.
The cab is rusted out and I in the process of replacing the cab, but as most projects go this cab swap is turning into an off frame resto project.
As I make progress I will up date this thread.
All comments and thoughts are welcome.

And now for the pictures!!

I have been working on getting the cab off the donor truck, 74 F-100 2x4, and just pulled it from the frame. There is some rust on the passenger side and the the driver's side will need a new floor.
I am going repaint the truck. Was thinking of using the paint scheme from the 79 Ford Pace truck if I can find the paint codes. Not looking for a perfect job as this is my off road truck, just want it to look decent.
Will update as I make progress
Got the cab off the donor truck and stripped bare. There is more damage on the driver's side than I thought and a little on the passenger. I will post pic tomorrow. I will be ordering a floor pan for the drivers side and I am going to try to patch up the passenger side with some sheet metal. I have decided to paint the truck in rustolum hammered. Just gotta wait for the weather to get warm and dry.
Killer truck! looks mean! but what is with that air cleaner in the 4th pic? it looks like a cardboard box held on with a ty-wrap. Is it some newfangled hi-tech job?

newfangled hi-tech?? Not sure I follow those words. I'll take it that your a yank, so I"ll have to explain the best I can using southern talk. The "cardboard box" is made of sheet metal and pop rivits. Its purpose is to protect the cleaner and divert water/mud away when plowing through those deep bogs. The stance of the truck makes me smile everything I get it out to play, reminds me of a bulldog bowed up ready to fight.
Got the front brakes fixed after two days of working. Both front calipers were seized up and the guide pins were froze in the calipers. All the seals were good so I broke the calipers down, cleaned and put it all back together. The truck does not have rear brakes the lines were never ran and the guy who did the swap and the front lines run the mater cylinder's rear brakes. Switched the line and now it will stop. Gonna get lines and work on running the rear brakes tomorrow after the horse sale. I'm still waiting on my floor pan to come to work on the replacement cab.
How bad does that pitman arm hit the spring when the wheels are turned to the left and the driver side suspension is compressed? Looks like it will hit with only a small bump. Not much travel there.
How about the pass side spring at full right turn? Any clearance issues there? Angles on the drag link appears to be a little extreme, but that might be the compromise when the ball joint 60 is being used huh?
I like the truck. Looks good man.
Subscribed.

To be honest I'm not sure, I bought the truck last month and have only had it out in the mud twice. If I have time tomorrow I'll see if I can put it in a ditch and take some pics. The truck was bought for a mud bogger only, but as always I have to have a project. The drag link does have a extreme angle, but I'm gonna see what I can do to fix it. I'm still new to the dentsides, most of my trucks have been mid 80's with the IFS. Figured I'd try something new. Thanks for the comments.
I am also interested in the steering box, and the front spring hangers? I see that these are original HB hangers, and the rear shackle mounts have been made using some flat bar and some angle iron, but I am curious what was done to the frame to accomodate these new mounting locations.
Can you take some pics of the steering box mounts, and the spring hangers please?
Looks like you are in need of some transfer case bushings too. Those are super cheap and easy to install.

Sorry about the delay, I ended up working 5 12's this week. Here are the pics. of the front spring hangers:
And pics of the Power Steering. I have to add a plate to the outside of the frame and a support beam because it looks like the frame is pulling in a little.
Going hydroboost!! Picked up a 99 Mustang Gt hydroboost and MC for $95.00 of ebay last night. I will be using Russel powerflex high pressure hose, Russel ends and convert all fittings to AN style. Should have parts next week and start to fab it up.
The front spring hangers look to me like a weak point. Maybe its just me but having that one bolt hold the way it is seems like if you hit a rock or something just right you could snap that bolt or tweek than hanger pretty easy. Hopefully 75 f350 comes back on. He is quite smart when it comes to these things. I don't have quite the background on trucks but I don't like that hanger.

I feel the same about the hanger. The guy at my local 4x4 shop said the hanger was fine because my front springs are flat, but that the bolt would be the week spot. I still don't like it thought and plan to make a new set up for mounting the spring. Gotta get my cab swap and the hydroboost done first.
