does anyone know where I can pick up a driveshaft for my 68 f100 shortie? have looked all over town and have several classified posts out there that havent gotten any attention.
My recommendation would be to find one that has the correct ends that you need and take it to a drive shaft shop and have one made. Somewhere in the hood of $150.00 in many places.
just buy one off that tv commercial on speed that shows all the cars burning out all because of their driveshaft! lol
or grab a 1/2" wrench and deebo one from someone else

You haven't recived any answers to your classified posts, because more info is required.
Besides the short wheelbase, driveshafts are specific to transmission and rear axle types.
The rear axle is prolly a Ford 9 inch, what transmission does it have?
A 1968 F100 w/a short wheelbase could have as many as 6 different driveshafts!
After flipping the rear end, I didnt have it bolted in very good (forgot to check them) and took it on a test drive and hit gravel, spun and my brand new BFG's caught pavement pretty hard... swung the nose of the rear end up and put a kink in the driveshaft. I have no shops around here that deal with driveshaft "work" and have had no luck finding a replacement.

Parts catalog shows two different driveshafts for your application:
C7TZ4602AC / 60 7/32" long / Fits: 1967/70.
C8TZ4602AG / 59 15/16" long / Fits: 1968/70.
The yoke and the U-joints are the same for both.
No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has either one.
Suggestion, call obsolete parts vendor Green Sales Co. in Cincinnati (513-731-3304) and ask them who is a good driveshaft shop in Ohio.
Then send it there, they can replace the tube, balance it...you're back on the road.
Most any town should have a driveshaft fabricator.....if your town is small, head to the next biggest place (whatever town you visit for shopping, etc) and you should have no problem finding one...
You want to stop looking for "NOS" or used parts and just have one made....most salvage yards don't even consider keeping Driveshafts anymore, as they are so cheap to fabricate.
I know for a fact there is a place in Indiana....as I ordered one of mine from out there....
I'd be willing to bet there is a shop in your "neck of the woods."
For the record, I would not "re-use" any parts of your old shaft....make sure you have the correct measurement for length to take with you, take the old shaft so they can match the U-joints and have them make a completely new one for you....
