extra seating
Hello to all! I was wondering if anyone could tell me if we could pull our 2
front captains chairs (drivers' seat-passenger seat)out and put a bench seat
in to turn our 2001 Ex. into a 9-pass vehicle and if we could is there a seat
from one of the Ford Trucks that would fit or have to be fabbed a bit to fit,personally would preferably find a used seat if it would fit any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time. Tom tnsbarn6@zoominternet.net

It should fit, but I'm not sure which model. If memory serves, I believe actually that the X was available from the factory with a front bench, but I'm not 100% positive. Someone should be able to check in and help

Yep, the X base model had the bench option, also the 40/20/40 option. same as your captains now with the small seat instead of your center console which retains your separate moving seats.
Look in the f 250/350 series pickups that came with reg cab or the 4 door option to also get seat from. I think up to 04 they even had the same color interiors, but don't quote me on that. The X cab had the seat belts in the seat back, so they won't work. They should pretty much bolt on, as the interiors are all the same.

My old 04 F250 had the split 40/20/40 seat, basically the middle seat could be utilized as such or to pull the seat back down and it was the center console, I liked that center console and it is what I miss on my Ex.

I would think that F250 front bench seats should fit in perfectly, the 250's i've worked on have what seems to be an identical interior to my Excursion. I've never seen an Excursion with front bench seating, but I've seen a lot of F250's with it, so if you are looking for used, it will probably be much easier to find.

If I was looking for more seating than 8, I'd go big (like for 11). Its a proven self install, and they can be taken out easy to. They've done Xs before and have pictures.
