Hub Cap Troubles

Alright, so I'm looking for the center pieces for my hubcaps on my '78 F100 Ranger. Problem is, LMC, Dennis Carpenter, nor NPD carry them. Not sure why they wouldn't, because they're simply glued to center of the cap, and apparently fall out over time. I only have one of them, and just need the other three.

I don't see any need in ordering completely new caps, since mine are just fine, and only need to be repainted. Plus, they're apparently the most expensive caps I can order new. I've also checked my local wrecking yards to no avail. Either way, photos are attached, and any help is appreciated. Thanks ^_^

Nice truck by the way, but you may have a hard time finding those center caps. If I was you, I would just get another type of hubcab that is easier to find and cheaper, but thats just me, I never personally liked those hubcaps, but maybe you could get some others to replace it, put those away some where safe, and when you find the center caps, glue them back on and put them back on the truck.

I have a similar situation......same hub caps. I am only missing one center and have had no luck finding another hub cap to scrounge the center cap. I am not in love with this style of hub cap either so I can't justify the prices the venders want. I prefer the "dog dish" look and will go that route at some point. So I will probably put the "mag" style up since they are original to the truck, maybe someday stumble upon a center cap at a swap meet/salvage yard.

Thanks for the comment, and I figured as much. I'm personally fond of this hub cap, and I suppose it's because you don't really see em much around where I live. I like to stick out a little bit. Hopefully I'll come across some soon. Thanks for the help.

I just went and checked. I have 3 centers, would you be interested in just the centers or do you want the whole hub cap?

Funny,
i always liked those wheel covers! I thought for a wheel cover, they were about the coolest looking mag style there was, not to mention they scream 70's which is and was a cool decade. I have a pair on my 77 F150 Explorer custom, and the mag part instead of being black, they are a creme color which matches the creme stickers on the hood, and back along the sides, just so cool I think.

how big is that center cap? i know you can buy aftermarket center cap stickers, there like rubber stickers, i have seen a couple nice ford ones, that i want for my trucks rear chrome center cap, but thats just a option, they would look nice on there, its a ford emblem instead of what you have, but you can always peel them off when you find the vintage originals, heck you might even like the new ones, and from what i have seen you can't get the original center decal, but thats my 2 cents, good luck with your hub caps, they have to be my favorite hub caps, beside chrome dog dish hub caps

There are TWO different versions of these optional WHEEL COVERS that were used on 1975/79 F100/F150's.

The difference is in the color of the paint.

Some have the 5 depressions painted black (D5TZ1130A), some were painted gold (D5TZ1130B).

These are wheel covers, not hub caps.

Hub caps only cover the center of the wheel, while wheel covers....

D5TZ1137A .. APPLIQUE -Use with D5TZ1130A or D5TZ1130B wheel covers / Obsolete

It's your lucky day....

GRIESEL MOTOR COMPANY in Okarche OK has ONE.

GRIFFON MOTOR COMPANY in Louisburg NC has THREE.

FREESE MOTORS in Monticello IA has ONE = 319-465-3541.

WESLEY OBSOLETE PARTS in Liberty KY has TWO = 606-787-5293.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH as FOUR = 800-543-4959.

MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has FIVE = 800-546-7278.

MCDONALDS OBSOLETE PARTS in Rockport IN has FIVE = 812-359-4965.

Can I change the subject back to hub caps? ;)
Where can a guy get -good- hubcaps? :)
Those from the "Help!" crap suck.
Just barely hold themselves in, thin metal and not springy, just soft crap.

No you cannot change the subject till I finishing editing the above post...check back in an hour!

Then...I'll see if anyone has any NOS HUB caps.

OK Alvin, I'm finished...what type of HUB caps are you looking for?

Remember now, we are dealing with Ford, so there are several different types used 1973/79.

And...to make matters worse...

CAVEAT EMPTOR: Some of the F100/150's used a similar cap to F250/350's but they are SMALLER in diameter.

To paraphrase Norm Abram (New Yankee Workshop)...measure twice, buy once.

here is a option for you cheezcake,

these ones are 1.95" or 50 mm

or these, they are 2 1/8" or 55 mm

just a idea, they are cheap enough, and you can always peel them if you find original ones, but i don't know who makes reproductions of the original ford ones? and finding them in the junkyard might be hard to find, and it looks you have to buy the whole "wheel cover" to get the center insert, at least with the ones i have pictured here are brand new, so you can replace them with ease, hope this helps

Those Wheel Covers were standard equipment on the F-100/F-150 Explorer models for further reference.
