I have a 77 F250 with a transplanted 460 in it, NP 205 xfer case and NP 435 trans. After I put the new 460 in I could not get the clutch equalizer to align straight between the bellhousing and frame. Has anyone run into this before? The frame side is higher than the motor side by about an inch. The clutch works fine but I think it will wear the bushings too fast. I can't find anything on the net to make this work. The original engine was a 360. Any advice is appreciated.
Or, get one from an '85 and up Ford, either a 4 speed or 460 or diesel with external slave. Mazda and ZF 5 speeds in others have internal slaves--you could use the master, but would have to adapt to a different slave.
Also, later 1950s Fords used hydraulic clutches, with nice big cast iron master cylinders. And C-series Fords used juice clutches also.
You should inspect your firewall before mounting, and reinforce it even if it is in good condition. They flex. (and crack and rust)
