Has anyone found some sort of step up system for reaching into the bed of our trucks? I keep seeing the F150 commercial and wishing that I could have some sort of way to make it easier to reach in to the bed from the side.
I have nerf bars on the cab, but I haven't been able to find a small one to go from the cab to the wheel well.
I got a bolt on unit from Cabelas, which folds out of the way. Around $50 each. They are small, but with one foot on it and the other on the tire, I can step up and balance well enough to reach into the bed. It bolts to the bed stiffener bar, and is reasonably well made. Although it is mostly aluminum, there is some rust staining after 6 months from one of the steel parts.
You can get wheel to wheell bars if you would want to replace the ones you have now they make for a nice clean look. Or the fold aways work quite well you should be able to find some decent sized one to stand on.
Slightly off topic, but to help get into the bed, I installed a 0" drop hitch insert upside down with no ball and an 18" reciever extender into the square tubing that holds the reciever hitch. I drilled a 5/8" hole to pin the insert into the tube. This provides a "step" off to the (right) side of back of the bed, just in front of the bumper. This is a good postion to step onto the open tailgate without having to get your foot all the way up onto the bumper (I have F350 and a bad hip).

I like that idea.... They make reciever hitch steps, which would be useless when the tail gate is down, but would look great with the setup you have...
Once the hole is drilled in the tubing it also makes a good place to carry an alternate hitch, and it can go on either side. I was planning on welding a bit larger plate to the upside down hight, but ended up not needing it.

That, sir, is BRILLIANT!
Drilling a second hole in your extender would allow it to be pushed in and re-pinned to prevent shin whacks when step is not needed.
I love simple, low dollar solutions!
I have an old hitch laying out back.
