the body on my panel was shipped out of the factory in primer(browny red) there was no color stamped on the builders tag....when i purchased this body it had the original dark green sprayed by the dealer or whoever.... bumpers & all... but they removed nothing they masked it all.
including the real simple to remove stuff like emblems & lights , when i removed them there was primer underneath, the interior was also never painted so the dash , inner doors & interior walls were all in primer browny red . now it's orange inside & out.

Does anyone have pictures of a truck painted the vermilion color? I always find it better to really see what a color looks like on a vehicle then just a sample.

Hi Pappy,

I think this one is Vermillion.

I'm not sure I'm going to agree withthe guys on the orange red description. That color is an intense red but a little darker - kind of like blood. At least the paint chip I have in my Salemans handbook is a little more RED with a dash of depth.

And a 53:

And here's the color chart from Marks (53lakeside) gallery:

I don't see a whole lot of orange in that - sorry guys!

Is the vermilion red the same color that is in the front hood badge?

I don't think so, I think that is just plain red. It would probably clash something awful with Vermillion.

Color code

Does anyone know if the R color code for a 1954 is the same as a 1953?
I noticed Bessie listed the color codes for 1953...
Thanks
Dom

I found the site. Thanks. For some reason a 1954 f100 meadow green does not give me a code.

For 53 and 54 the grille was Sungate Ivory. In 55 and 56 it was Snowshoe White.

For my 54, I got a paint chip from a company in Connecticut for the Sungate Ivory and the Meadow Green back in 1998.
