Been in the garage for the last many nights working on assembling a new bed myself but thought that if you're still thinking about it, I'd chime in on this one. I assembled a Mar-K bed with their bed wood and stainless strips a few years ago for my early 50 F1. You can see it in my picture gallery. I couldn't have been happier with their product. It's well made, and very easy to assemble!! I only wish they made a bed for a 40 Ford. I can now compare Mar-K against the newest bed I'm assembling -- a certain bed made in Missouri. I think they're both good products, but Mar-K quality is top notch and have built in some major conveniences like pre-punched holes for fenders and in their bed strips and they send INSTRUCTIONS !! I know personally that some of their competitors don't get close to giving any guidance on how to assemble stuff. You'd think that for something that cost more than a grand, you'd get a little help. Anyway, better get back to the garage and my personal bed assembly marathon. Good luck with your decision. (No, Mark-K has not sponsored or supported this opinion in any way).
If you are not looking to make a show truck and only have little dings on the inside you could just Rhino line it. You can now dye the mix to meet your color specs.
I bought mine from these folks last November at a swap meet(saved on shipping and spent a day looking through ton's of autos/parts). I'm real happy with the product and the people who sold it. With that said, I've only primed it and I've yet to put it together. Hopefully, I'll know about it's fitment this summer!
Question regarding beds for mar-ktech. My truck is the late 1950 with flat bed sides. I have been under the impression (for some lost reason) hat the late 1950 front bed mounting holes are not in the same place as the 1951-52. Can this be confirmed? I do not want to order pre-drilled boards if they will not fit properly and I have no interest in drilling extra holes in the frame. I realize that I could just order un-drilled wood but . . . . I guess I'm lazy. By the way, thanks for responding to my thread and I look forward to a smooth order and delivery process. Carl
I would love to order a metal bed for my 55 F-250, but nobody makes a metal bed for the F-250's. I guess they were slightly different in alignment due to the additional length. I wish Mar-K could make a bed for the F-250's b/c it sounds like they are a great company to deal with. None of you guys have seen a metal repro bed for the F-250's have you?
I also bought my new bed from Mar-k in 2004 during there March Madness Sale (Free Shipping). Great bed, all the panels had a Galvanized finish on them so I had no issues with rusting, at least so far.
Are you serious? I have their catalog, and I looked on their website, and I don't see the option for an entire metal bed set up. Do you have a link by any chance? Thanks.
