Loud whinning
My speedometer is starting to wave and whin at me.The cable looks fine so am I safe in assuming the problem is the gauge,(where the noise is coming from) and does it have to be replaced? or is there a rebuild?

It might be the gears whining. There's a good speedo shop right off Prospect Ave in Santee (by the trolley tracks) - if he's still there.

Call first! He goes out surfing a lot during business hours if it's slow
But he does great work at good prices. If it's your cable, he'll make you a new one on the spot. If it's the speedometer gears, he can tell you if they just need some graphite, or if it's going to explode. I would imagine he can refurb them as well.
