Fender Trim
I have a 1970 F100 Sport Custom long bed. I am going to be putting it in the paint shop soon and was wondering.The chrome moulding on the exterior is very dull and weather worn.Is there a process you can use to get the finish back because I don't want to put it back on looking like it is.I am thinking about leaving it off but would rather have it on.Are there places that rechrome these peices?Please help

There are places that will rechrome or replate them. I can't think of a specific one offhand, but this will put you in the right direction..... go to your local bookstore and purchase a copy of Hemmings Motor News from the magazine rack. (It will be wearing a paper-bag brown cover). Flip through it. As well as having a specific section of advertisers for restoration services, the publication is full of various ads. You'll find at least a dozen who replate.

I second that also, restorit, I looked at a 72 Xlt last year that was restored. The XLT trim looked like brand new... I asked the seller where he bought new trim, he stated that he removed it and sent it to a company that was advertised in Hemmings. They fixed some minor dings, polished it and re applied the woodgrain. It looked like brand new. Sorry I didn't get the name of the company or the cost. This fellow also sent the instrument cluster cover out, got it replated, new woodgrain, and new lens. It also looked like brand new. Check out Hemmings.
