hood latch question

Hello i searched the forums and i couldn't find this particular info. I want to change my locking latch to a non-locking latch on my hood. Can i just take the locking one off and put the non-locking one on. thanks for any help.

yes you can any one from 73-79 will fit

I am curious why you want to change ? I recently bought a locking hoodlatch off of Ebay,With the intent of keeping my engine compartment more secure .Are there issues with the locking hoodlatch?

It is very hard to pull and no amount of lubrication has helped. Also i live out here in BFE so security is not an issue. I just want to pop my hood open fast and i have one of these latches availiable to me

This may just be an adjustment isssue. Is it difficult to pull the release if the hood is open? Often times there is too much tension on the latch and this makes opening the hood difficult.

I was the same way, just wanted to open it fast. I took out the lock portion (Where the key goes in) and covered the hole with a chrome cover. Very easy and I can put it back anytime.
