I like the look of the fiberglass GT hood from usbody.com, it has a small scoop on each side of the hood probably about 2" tall and about 10" wide or so.
I thought about using clay to make a mold by laying it on the hood and carving it into the shape I want then spraying pam cooking oil over it and covering with plaster of paris then making a fiber glass scoop for each side.
As for making it functional, I'd look at the old mustang 428 setup for ideas or just make a copy of the 427 cobra 'turkey pan'
