<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_start --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_start -->When under hard acceleration in the 40 mph range, the engine appears to sound like its pushing air out of somewhere on the drivers side of the truck. You can hear this inside the cab and it's fairly loud. It almost sounds like a loose sparkplug that the air is blowing past. If that was the case, it seems I would be getting a code or the truck would be running badly, and it would happen anytime the truck was running. Like I said, I only hear it under hard acceleration around the 40 mph mark and it lasts for approx 5 seconds. It is definately coming from the engine compartment on the drivers side. Any ideas?Could a loose spark plug cause this?

I already changed all exhaust manifold studs on both sides. I did check the power brake booster lines and the lines look ok. Maybe I have a bad fitting in the booster. Would'nt I notice some power brake issues?
It's prob a leaking EGR tube or DPFE hose, or a loose spark plug. I would check the plugs first. One could be just loose enough to seal at idle and leak when cylinder pressure is highest. If it is leaking the COP boot will be discolored.
A loose plug should make a ticking noise, from experience when they get loose they do not throw a code they just spit out about a day before you decide to check for loose plugs or the exhaust leak that is making that ticking sound.
Hmmm, I thought it was just me, but my truck is sounding the same way...I checked the manifolds and they're fine(no rotted off studs yet!!) I guess I'll check the plugs this weekend. I did notice that the mod motors have a more noticible injector "tick" than the old 302 I had.
