i have a 93 f 150 5.0 motor blew heads and intake are still good will a shortblock 5.0 work out of a 99 explorer with my heads and intakes thanks for the help
Get the heads and intake from the Explorer if you can. The Explorer 5.0s had the GT-40 heads and intakes, these are way better than what came on your motor.
Did they still put the 5.0 in a 1999 Explorer? I honestly don't know, just had to ask.
Reffering to the 5.0. Why they call it a 4.9 I don't know. Source: Wikipedia- Ford replaced the 4.9 L (302 cu in) pushrod Windsor V8 with the Modular 4.6 in the Mustang. Its use in production vehicles continued until 1997 in the F-150 and until 2001 in the Explorer. As of 2008, the Windsor engines including the 5.8 L (351 cu in) and 4.9 L (302 cu in) are still being manufactured; they are available as complete crate motors from Ford Racing and Performance Parts.
Cause the 300ci I6 is the "4.9" and they need to be able to clarify which motor. Be kinda hard to have a Inline and V motor called the same thing. Even though Detriot Diesel does it, they put a "V" in the engine name to denote.
Wikipedia info isn't always 100% correct, and in this case it's clearly wrong since the 4.9/300 designation has always been used by Ford to identify the inline 6 motor.
