Liftgate Keeps Opening

Hello all

The liftgate (glass) keeps popping open on my '03 Expedition EB. I close it well to be sure it's secure and it pops again. It's driveable but the message center keeps reading "Liftgate Ajar". I have read some posts here, some say lubricate, I have heard a relay ($700.00). Any thoughts

?

Lubricating sounds like a good idea. Maybe the latch isn't closing securely.

Just a thought, try running the truck without your fob anywhere close to the truck and see if it still does it. I have heard of a lot of people that had the glass keep coming open and it was the fact that the fob was causing it to open either through accidental pressing of the button or a malfunctioning fob. My wife was having this problem on her 03 Explorer and it was the fact she was pushing the button on the fob without realizing it.

Good post Craig. That actually happened a few times on my mom's GM with the trunk popping open and it was because of accidentally hitting the button when I put the keys in my pocket.

No such luck guys but thanks, niether my wife or I use the fob. The lubrication has not worked either. As soon as I turn the car on it pops almost always. I think it's and electrical issue.
