I have a '64 F-100 short bed truck I just bought back in Sept. My question, is a good idea to weld all of the seams on the bed box? I just noticed I am starting to get rust poking through the paint where the seams meet. Also I noticed that the lower driver side panel moves in and out ever so slightly. Is this a sign that the spot weld or hardware has finally gone out the window? I am tinkering with the idea of taking the bed off and completely disassembling it to remove all of the rust and welding the seams afterwards to give it a clean look.
I went looking through the past posts and found a thread on the rain rails. I have a problem with rust on the passenger and driver side of the cab roof. The passenger side is the worst. What gauge steel was used to make the cab roof? I have access to different size gauge steel and want to cut out the bubbled stuff and weld in new metal. And last where can I find a new rain rail? Or would I have to make one? Thanks in advance.
