Unearthing Coolant Leak!?

As the title reads, I can't find the leak nor can my mechanic.

The leak is coming from somewhere deep and high into the passenger side of the engine and it's a slow leak not a huge one. Last time I took it to the mechanic, he replaced an intake manifold gasket, but since then it continues to leak. There's a hose that runs from some of the heater hoses to the behind the engine that I think needs to be replaced but I don't know if this is the source of the leak.

Took it back to him and now he's thinking it might be the heater core but can't seem to narrow it down definatively.

Any suggestions? I really appreciate any help.

I believe that there is a coolant tube that runs under the intake from front to rear. These are known to rot out and leak. Not sure if yours has one or not.

Do you know where the leak would originating from if it was this hose?

Usually the metal tube near the rear of the intake underneath. I suspect he might have seen this tube when he had the intake off to replace the gaskets. He may recall if it was there or not.

I'll ask him next time I see him.

Any chance it is the heater core?

Any other suggestions?

I found the hose.

There's a rubber hose that runs from some of the heater hoses and meets that metal hose that you were talking about.

I'd like to replace that rubber hose but need a part #, do you think you could help me there?

If it's the metal tube that needs replacing, how would I go about replacing that one?

I'm pretty sure that the intake manifold will have to come off to replace the metal tube. I do not have access to any part numbers, but pm ftepartsguy, he can help, I'm pretty sure. He is a sponsor and works at a Ford dealer parts dept. He has great prices too.

Yeah, I figured I would end up asking him.

Do you know what exactly the rubber hose and metal tube are called?

No, it may be a bypass tube, but I am not sure.

4.6L V8 coolant leak

I saw another post about a internal leak that can't be found. I'm having the same problem and my mechanic can't find it. Coolant disappears, truck runs fine, no codes.

I'm not sure as to what should be done next. Mechanic thinks it may be a head gasket?

I feel for you. Mine has stopped leaking for the past week but I'm still going to replace some of the hoses I think might be the culprit.
