Which has more bang for the buck...ARP or ATS. I'm looking at Xtreme Diesel Performance. The ARP studs are $475 and the ATS studs are $711. Any particular reason the ATS studs are so much more expensive?

I would go with the ARPs. The ATS studs are stronger, but they are more brittle and a lot more expensive. You can get the ARPs on Ebay for around $375.
Ats I bleave is stronger (h11 bolts), but for the price difference they are over kill. Arp's are pleanty strong enough for the job at hand. If you don't want to get them off ebay check browns diesel I got a set for 385 plus shipping
ATS your definately paying for the name as well, maybe a little stronger I don't know much about that. ARPs have been tried and true for alot of people's applications(mine included), I would just stick with ARPs. Not a reason to go for the other product when they ARPs are sufficient.
Looked at Elite Diesel as well. They are $775, H-11 studs with 240,000 tensile strength, and the claim the strongest available. I understand that you can get them fairly cheap on e-bay, but in past experience, there is plenty of corruption on that site and I tend to stay away from that. I'd prefer to buy from a reputable vendor. Is this a 1 weekend or 2 weekend job (not driving the vehicle during the course of the week)?
I believe he is referring to a intercompany memo that got out about what sounding like ATS was going to collude with the EPA about reporting "off-road" dpf removal kits being sold and to whom. I think the memo was written by their lawyer trying to cover ATS' butt if anything should hit the fan.
Something along those lines, it's been awhile, don't really remember the post all that much.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...yourselfs.html There was a better one that was more animated and longer, but a search for ATS seems to produce nothing. Maybe someone else would have better luck finding it, I can't. But this is only my opinion, use your own best judgement.

Do you have access to a lift?
I would say its a 16hr job if you can lift the cab. More if you have to pull the engine. Make sure and get the heads checked.
I sort of have access to a lift...a 30 ton/5 ton aux overhead crane. just concerned about having damage done to the cab lifting it. Might be in my best interest to take it to someone to have it done
