I have a 99 f-150,gas, 4x4, std, cab, longbox, 4.6 w air, 245/75/16 LT (oe size).
I back out of the driveway, stop, put into drive slight klunk(thought u-joints, they seem good). Starting off moderate throttle sounds like clicking coming from the rear axle. No sound when tranny in 3rd. Clicking comes back slightly when braking 20-40k (12-25mph). 200000 k or 120000 m on truck, tranny fluid level good, not burnt or really dirty.
Stumped
Change the u joint. After 120000mi of driving up there, they probably have been dry for along time.I have thought they were OK or borderline OK and changed them and took care of the problem. They are only around $15
