remote starter help

ok this may not be the right section but I wasn't sure where to put it

I have a TRC XR-22 and I am trying to find a way to trigger a relay to turn on the domelight and the manufacture will only give help ans support to there dealers here is a link the the manual http://www.trc12volt.com/XR22c.pdf if it will help I was thinking about using the factory alarm disarm wire but I am unsure if this would work or not

Thanks,
yonu

p.s. this is in a 1979 F100 with Efi

The disarm wire will be a pulse not a steady ground, so it would require a latching relay or latching relay array. I would use the unlock wire for this in any case, wired so when you unlock the door, the dome light comes on, then when the door switch says the door is open it turns off. The nice side to this, is the relay will disconnect, but the door switch will keep the dome light on until you close the door. However you will have to open the door to turn the dome light off.

If your handy or know someone handy, the trunk button would be a nice way to work it. One press turns the domes on, a second turns the dome off with a door open override. The12volt has a diagram for latching relay arrays and you can buy latching relays from electronics stores.
