I see numberdummy's post and it reminds me of my 73 F-250 and the Brake master cylinder. My 73 was probably a 72, because the third Master cylinder I tried was the right one.
Here's photos of the 77/460/pwr brakes standard.
Here's three photos. Probably the one you want shows the gap between the Vacuam Cylinder and the Valve Cover. The next one you want showes the top of the Vacuam cylinder at the Drip rail of the cowl. That should give you an idea of what size you need.
I had very similar clearance with my 79. Until I put on the tall ford racing valve covers. They would not clear but such a tiny amount, but you could not put the bolts in. That and then add the gasket thickness and I was pooched, Hadda get the 9 1/4 inch booster now I have plenty of clearance. Oh yeah dont forget the motor moves under torque so you also need to take that into account when deciding what you need.
Dont go runnin out half cocked. Make sure you do the research and find what is right and will work correctly. I do not know if a 79 f-350 booster will fit your application. That is why I suggested the rockauto site. Pay attention to what Numberdummy is saying, he knows loads! Every truck has its own unique things and you dont want to buy something that wont fit. A worse outcome would be that it fit and will not function properly (read accident). Do the homework, the truck will wait for you.
