whats the difference between a divorced t-case and a married one. i feel i should know this but i dont kinda ashamed

a divorced t-case is seperate from the transmission, a married t-case is connected to trans.

Here's another question, what are the advantages/disadvantages of a divorced transfer case setup?

a disadvantage would most likely be the middle drive shaft, if it would break. no go.

That's kind of what I was thinking, more stuff to break. The only advantage I can think of is being able to use a transmission not designed for a 4x4. But since I see a lot of custom 4x4s sporting a divorced t-case, there has to be more advantages than that.

Depending on several other variables, like if the truck is lifted, a divorced case might give a better front drive shaft angle.

lifted or not, that is the soul purpose, to reduce driveshaft angle front and rear.
