do i need a over flow?

Hey All! Im running a 351c on the stock radiator in my 55 f100. I just took it down the driveway and back in the garage and it was dripping out the over flow tube running down the side of the rad. So do i need a overflow? Where can i get one? Is there a special kind i need? thanks as always!!!!

You shouldn't need an overflow tank. Leave the coolant level a couple inches down in the rad when cold to allow some room for expansion when it warms up.
If you want to add a coolant recovery system to it you have to have the proper cap and to allow the coolant to be pullled back into the rad when it cools and I'm not sure you can get one to fit the stock rad.

homade was doing the same thing until I put an overflow on it, most any vendor has them from 35.00-50.00, chrome or aluminumand they work great.

it comes out because the rad. can kinda move side to side. I think thats why it leakes alittle not presure. I might just add a catch bottle so i wont have to worry about the dog getting at it.

i would run an overflow. buy it new like homade said or go to the wrecking yard and get one. why not recover the coolant if you can.

My 56 f100 has a 289c. When I drove it and it warmed up,it would drip antifreeze out the overflow. I added an overflow chrome tube like Homemade said. It solved my problem.
