You had a post talking about dropping the rpm buy pushing the traction control button and steping on floor button , what is ment by floor button ?? Brake , trying to drop my rpms on my 2008 f 450 6.4 thanks ............john
Pushing and steping on buttons is not going to drop your RPM's. I saw your previous post about this issue and the guys there were right and you are on par with where you are supposed to be based on available axle ratios, final drive ratio of the transmission and tire diameter. A F-450 with 4.88 gears will turn right around 2,900 - 3,000 RPM at 80 mph and 2,500 - 2,600 RPM at 70 mph. A F-450 with 4.30 gears will turn right around 2,500 - 2,600 RPM at 80 mph and 2,200 - 2,300 RPM at 70 mph...
The only ways of dropping the RPM would include things like regearing, larger diameter tires or installing a unit like a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. If your F-450 had 3.73 gears it would turn a little over 2,200 RPM at 80 mph and a little under 2,000 RPM at 70 mph...
oK , thanks , i guess ill try the grear vendor thing in the furture , i guess i cant belivie the thing screems down the road like that , you would think they would do something from factory, like a nother gear or 2 speed rear but thanks for your help ...................John
