Shawn...I used to own a first generation Isuzu Trooper..'91 I think it was.
It had the DRL as well....but if you applied the parking brake it would shut them off. At the time I lived in a small apartment building and when parked in my spot, my lights would shine right into a bedroom window of a basement apartment, so naturally my neighbor was very appreciative of the handbrake feature. I used a remote starter on that truck as well.
