B2500 Sway Bar

The end links on my '98 were gone, and the through-bolts were rattling like crazy from the lack of bushing material. I just bought new links and installed them, and no more noise, of course... But now, the first thing I noticed as I started driving, is that the steering wheel feels 'notchy' as I turn it. Is this something to do with the twisting action of the sway bar? I haven't replaced the sway bar bushings themselves yet... Could that be the problem? Maybe the sway bar is sliding back and forth inside the degraded rubber of the bushings? They aren't super loose or anything, but maybe for $15 a side, it is worth buying to try it? I never noticed anything like this before until the new links...

When one of my front end-links broke, it put some extra strain on tie rod/steering gear joint. Some PS fluid leaked out of that area during that time.

Hmmm, funny, I think I have a small power steering leak... I do have new inner tie rod ends if I decide to install them, though they aren't that bad yet... Still, the notchiness is weird. It has seemed to disappear today, and I am wondering if after all the movement from putting new links in, that it has 'centered' itself to be in the right spot now??? Am I correct in assuming that the sway bar must still turn inside the sway bar to frame bushings? I mean, it has to transfer the compression somehow...
