'97 Expy 5.4 swap

'97 Expy 5.4 swap
Howdy gang,
I've got a '97 Expy with a blown motor. I've got a couple different options for engines, but nothing that is a direct swap. I've got a '96 Crown Vic with a 4.6 and access to a '99 E350 w/5.4.
How hard is it going to be to swap each of these engines into my broke Expy? I'd like to do the '99, but I'm guessing the intake manifold that is on there won't clear the Expy firewall (97/98 are ultra tight), and the 97 intake won't work with the PI heads will it?
If I can drop the 4.6 in, that's almost the way I would prefer to go. I can buy low mileage 4.6's for less than $200 a pop all day long.
