I am thinking of buying a pickup that someone has installed a sunroof. I don't like or want the sunroof. If I buy the truck how much work and how do I fix that problem.
major pain! I have a sun roof in mine and I just decided to live with it.
It causes the roof to sag because the cross support is has to be removed and the extra weight of the sun roof. I ended up custom making a support under the roof just for it.
I looked into going back to a stock and it was expensive, about 200~300 just for the roof then welding. You could replace the cab which is probably a better idea.
Otherwise, you could just live with it. I'm going to make an inside cover for mine and that should make it more liveable.
One other option is to have new metal welded just to cover the hole, but that's real hard to do right because that metal is VERY thin.
Well... you could go the whole nine yards and have a whole new roof installed. Most body shops will install a chopped off roof and weld it to your window posts.....PRICEY!!!!
If I were doing it I would just install a new sunroof from Fairmont and spend about 200 bucks on the sunroof and have a good solid frame that won't cause the roof to buckle and it won't leak, that's what I did and am very satisfied, hey they really offset the truck too.
